Below are what our nurses have experienced recently:
"My first experience with travel nursing came from my association with New Directions. I wanted my first assignment to be near my permanent home in Delaware and I was able to find one in Richmond, VA. That assignment worked out well and as a result I decided to open up my geographic preferences. Jesse, my recruiter, presented me an assignment in Charleston at a Medical University of South Carolina, and when offered the job I decided to give a new location a try.
My first housing was located in a newer apartment complex just five minutes from the hospital and was certainly acceptable. However, the one drawback was that the unit was located on the third floor and could be reached only by stairs. Although a case could be made for getting daily exercise, after three months I decided to ask for a new location. As it happened a New Directions' housing coordinator was able to find a condo located on the waterfront just minutes from the beach. The location was still convenient and offered a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the area as well. My husband and children visited me and were able to sample the many attractions in the Charleston area. We met the owners and staff of New Directions and felt welcomed by them to the community.
In additon to the personal side, I was able to enhance my nursing skills and education by working in new areas, such as Kidney Transplant. Also, I have made new friends whom I still keep in touch with on a regular basis; we are planning trips to see each other in the near future. Travel nursing is one of the most rewarding experiences I have had in my nursing career, thanks to Jesse and New Directions. My assignment was extended three additonal times at the Medical University of South Carolina, and overall I had a wonderful time both personally and professionally."
